ASOP's Inaugural $4.5 Million Founding Partners Campaign
Bone health has the science. What it has never had is the trained workforce and infrastructure to put that science into practice consistently — across every care setting, before the fracture occurs. That is what ASOP is building. Founding Partners are the people and organizations making that build possible.
The Problem
Every year in the United States, more than 2 million fragility fractures occur because bone health risk goes unidentified and unmanaged. The cost is $55 billion annually. An osteoporotic fracture occurs every 16 seconds. Over age 50, 1 in 2 women and 1 in 4 men will experience an osteoporosis-related fracture in their lifetime.
This is not a science problem. The risk tools exist. The medications work. The evidence for earlier intervention is clear.
It is a workforce problem. The average clinician received four to five hours of bone health education across their entire training. There is no shared knowledge standard across the care team. No national credential defining what clinical competency in bone health looks like. No way to measure whether the field is getting better over time.
Think about how cardiology approached this same problem. For most of the last century, heart disease was treated after the heart attack. It took deliberate investment in knowledge infrastructure, workforce development, and measurement systems to shift medicine toward managing cardiovascular risk before the event. That transition saved millions of lives. Bone health is at that same inflection point. The difference is that the path has already been traveled once. We know what it takes.
What Your Investment Builds
A standardized curriculum that gives any provider, at any credential level, across any specialty, a foundation in bone health they never received in training.
A nationally accredited certification program that defines what bone health clinical competency looks like and means something across the entire care team.
A national registry of certified bone health providers, searchable by patients looking for qualified care.
The measurement infrastructure to track progress in bone health care at a population level for the first time.
The operational foundation that takes ASOP from bootstrapped to financially self-sustaining over four years.
The projected outcome of 7,000 certified providers is not arbitrary. It is the threshold at which a credentialed workforce begins to move the needle on fracture rates nationally. Fewer fractures is the measure of success. Everything ASOP builds points to that outcome.

A Note on Independence
Founding Partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, device manufacturers, or other industry entities are structured as unrestricted educational grants. ASOP maintains full control over curriculum, certification standards, exam development, and the provider registry. No partner influences program design, content, faculty, or certification outcomes. All partnerships follow PhRMA Code, OIG guidance, and ACCME standards. No partnership implies endorsement of any product or therapy.
Why This Matters
This investment builds something that outlasts any single program or campaign. A credentialed workforce. A national standard. A field that can finally measure its own progress. And fewer fractures as the result.
"Your partnership builds what the field has been missing and sets the standard for how bone health care is delivered." Dudley Phipps, PA-C, CCD, CEO and Executive Director
